League President Passes away

The league is saddened to learn of the passing of The Leagues President Gwyn Pierce Owen after a short Illness aged 85

Gwyn had been involved in football in North Wales for over 60 years, Starting with being a referee in the 1960's, with him moving quickly on to the football league and then on to the fifa referees list in 1975.

Gwyn Refereed many of the top games at the time including European cup matches and Uefa cup matches in the late 70's and early 80's, and also refereeing the old home international matches between England & Northen Ireland

After finishing refereeing Gwyn went on to be President of Bangor City and saw them as founders of the league of Wales in 1992, And saw them win it two consecutive years in 94,95 seasons

Gwyn was invited to be president of the Welsh Alliance league in 2007 Replacing Mike Williams a position that he held until his passing

Gwyn had many friends in the refereeing world, in the players dressing room & in the Commitee rooms & his passing will be a sad loss to all in local football

The League would like to pass on it condolance to family and friends of Gwyn
