Match report by Stan Stickland of Glantraeth F C

It was another great night in Glantraeth's history as the Anglesey village side beat Llanberis by three goals to nil at Bangor City's Nantporth Stadium to win the Cookson Cup for the first time.
Llanberis began brighter but it was Glan who came closest to taking the lead on ten minutes, only a brilliant tackle from Nathan Williams prevented Mark Bridge getting his shot in after Craig Roberts had broken clear down the right. The Anglesey side did go ahead three minutes later as Guto Hughes swung in a corner from the right that found Gerwyn Jones well placed to head home. Glan keeper Ben Heald made a fine save from a Nidian Huws free kick on 17 minutes as Llanberis continued to have the better of play although Glantraeth always looked dangerous going forward with Mark Bridge failing to properly connect with a volley from a good position. Glan led at the break but had never looked really convincing and Llanberis could justifiably have felt unlucky to be behind.
Whatever manager Warren Gibbs said to his players at half-time seemed to work as within five minutes of the restart they went two up with a tremendous goal, a superb driven cross from Shaun Lock being powerfully headed home by Mike Lundstrum then Tom Clarke went close and five minutes later it was almost a second for Lundstrum as he broke clear on goal only for keeper Louis Williams to make point blank save,
Llanberis were not giving up without a fight and only a tremendous save from Heald on 57 minutes prevented Llion Jones reducing the deficit and nine minutes later a volley from Stef Jones only just missed the target. It was all but over with fourteen minutes left as another great cross from Shaun Lock found Craig Roberts at the far post and the Glantraeth number 9 made no mistake with a shot driven high into the roof of the net. Final score: Glantraeth 3 Llanberis 0
