Gaerwen Chairman Steps down

Club Announcement:

It is with regret that we announce the resignation of Gaerwen Football Club Chariman Mathew Thomas.

The club would like to put on record it's sincerest thank you to all the hard work that Mathew has put in as Chairman of the club over the past years.

During Mathew's tenure as chairman, a number of significant improvements have been made on and off the pitch. From new changing rooms and ground improvements to achieving the clubs highest ever position in the Welsh Pyramid last season, Mathew really has taken the club on to the next level over the last 4 years.

His energy and commitment will be sorely missed, but there's no doubt he can leave with his head held high and can look back at the last 4 years with fond memories.

Once again - thank you Mathew for all your hard work, commitment and dedication - the club wouldn't be where it is today without you. Diolch yn fawr.

Mathew's decision has not come easily as he writes:

"I'm sad to say I'm stepping down as Chairman of Gaerwen Football Club. with immediate effect.

I'm gutted that I have had to come to this decision, and it hasn't been an easy one. I can leave with my head held high with what I have personally done and achieved over the past 4 years.

One thing is for certain, I will never stop supporting this club as it has been part of me for such a long time and I will always have very found memories of Gaerwen Football Club.

Something that has kept me going over the last 4 years is to keep Tom Wyn's name and memory going. As I leave it is important that the new chairman keeps Tom's name & memory going as it is, and always will be a huge part of this club.

For me now, it is all about family time, and I am going to spend as much time with them as possible.
