After 85 Years that it, it is all over

The League discontinued under FAW re organization

85 years since the formation of the Welsh Alliance Football League, it is disappointing to see the league disbanded, the teams are being dispatched into new leagues, some into the new tier three league under the FAW, and others into recreational football under the area associations
and as of the date of this letter, a lot of clubs still do not know which league they may be in next season, as the league or clubs have not been informed of any such decisions at the present time

The league tables have had to be finalized on points per match, which has made minor changes to league positions and the league champions for season 2019/20 are :

Division One Champions Holyhead Hotspur
League Runners Up Denbigh Town

Division Two Champions Y Felinheli
League Runners Up Llannefydd

The League has sent in a request to the F A of Wales for permission to play the three league cup finals prior to the start of the new season, when ever that may be.

The League Executive Committee will meet as soon as it is safe to do so, to consider individual awards for the season.

You will all be aware that the league function planned for the 6th June had to be cancelled but hopefully will be held on a new date at the same venue, and it is hoped that all will attend on the new date when arranged.

This league has been the strongest league in the area and it is disappointing that it has to end in this way. I appreciate that clubs have worked hard over many years to obtain a position in the league, just to be relegated by no fault of their own just because they cannot reach the ground criteria for one of the new tier three divisions.

I thank all the clubs and their committee members for the excellent support given to me and the league over many seasons. The league has been served by an executive committee whose members have worked tirelessly to ensure that the league has been administered correctly, which is why we have the best committee of any league, and it shows when two of its officers have been selected by the FAW for positions in the new tier three league north, namely Simon Newport (referees appointment secretary) and Ken Richardson (Treasurer).

My sincere thanks to the companies who have sponsored the league over many years, too many to mention, but our present sponsors Lock Stock Self Storage with Shon Powell at the head, have been an excellent company to work with, and have assisted many clubs during their time as league sponsors. and also to Gary Owen from Queensferry Sports ,

I would also like to thank the referees and assistant referees, some have been with the league for many years and have maintained high standards officiating in the league. I hope that many referees will be included on the referees list for the new tier three league next season, and to the assistants many thanks and again I hope many of you will be included on the tier two and three lists for next season.

It is regrettable that the life members and vice presidents, who have dedicated so much of their time to football are being left off lists now that the league is over, but I thank you for the support you gave to football in North Wales.

I would like to thank the members of the press and web site managers who, over many years, have given the league excellent coverage. I know that some times my results sheets have been a bit rushed with occasional error, but at least you received the information that you required. Also, I must give a special mention to Keith Evans of North Wales Press who has covered the league for over forty years.

Lastly, my thanks also go to my fellow officers who have worked very hard to ensure that you the member clubs and players had a league to be proud to be a member of.
