Brief history of Nefyn football club
The first recorded account of Nefyn football is in 1932-33where they played under the name of Nefyn Celts and we assume the pitch was opposite the old Nant Park they played in the Bangor &dist league against teams such as Llandegfan,,Llanfairfechan, an away trip there must have taken hours, and they finished last with 3 points
In 1933-34 Trefor & Pwllheli joined the league ,in 1934-35 they finished the league last minus 2 points
In 1937-38 they joined the lleyn league with teams such as Sarn, R.A.F. Penrhos,Llanbedrog,Abersoch,,from 1939-45 the league was dismantled because of the war .
The team play again in 46-47for the last time in the lleyn league,as they moved to Bangor & district in47-48 and finished fourth.
In 1950 the league changess to Caernarfon & district, and in 52-53 ,53-54, 54-55 Nefyn won the league and all cups
In 57-60 there was no team at Nefyn as they had debts then of £85 and the team had to withdraw from the league but reappear in 61in the C'von & district. They played there until they were promoted to the Gwynedd league in 1987,
In 1991-92 they were promoted to then the Fitlock league they played there for 3 seasons.
They had to resign due to lack of signed players and had to start right at the bottom in the sain league but it wasn't long before success came their way in 2000 Nefyn win the junior cup for the first time in their history by beating local rivals Llanstumdwy 2- 1 at Porthmadog, and were also promoted to the Gwynedd league, and in 2003 they finished runners up to Llanrwst.
In 04 they won the John Smith final in what turned out to be a marathon of a match at Llangefni where they were the underdogs against Bangor university the match went to extra time and penalties and by the end it was pretty dark with Andrew Parry being the hero saving a penalty brilliantly,
In 20005 they were promoted to the alliance league though only finished as runners up to Porthmadog res but a res side were not allowed to the alliance and 2005-06 had a good welsh cup run and loosing to Cefn Druids away 3-1
Last season Nefyn again had a good cup run in the Welsh cup ,but lost to Caernarfon from the welsh premier league in the third round by 3-1after taking the lead.
This seaso(2008-09)n we have a new player manager after Jason Jones stepped down after 4 years in charge, John Jones took control of the team after returning home here from welsh premier club Porthmadog
Nefyn finished 7th in the lague and were semi finalist in The Welsh Trophy losing out to Pencae 3-2
